Discussion of Scheduling:
Every season MCSC members ask “why isn’t the schedule posted sooner each week?” or even “why isn’t the complete schedule posted before the season starts?”
To answer these questions we must look at how the schedule is made each season. About one month before each respective season starts the 641 league member clubs have a meeting. At this meeting various topics are discussed. Topics such as rule interpretations, any FIFA rule changes, league policies, and most importantly the schedule. MCSC is the only club that has established numbers and teams for each age level by this meeting. Other members of the 641 have not completed the registration process. Therefore, estimates for each age group are provided. At this meeting only the overall schedule is set. In other words it is decided where each club will be on each game day of the season. It is then left up to the individual clubs to make the actual game day schedule for specific Saturdays. By convention and necessity the home club sets the game schedule for each given Saturday. It is also up to the home club to arrange for referees and other support staff. Once the home club sets the schedule it is sent by email to the visiting club or clubs for confirmation. This is the crucial time consuming step. When MCSC has a home date our schedule is sent out for confirmation a minimum of three weeks in advance. We then wait for the visiting club to request changes to the schedule or accept it as written. All conflicts are worked out as quickly as possible. Conflicts that arise include but are not limited to game start times, number of participating teams and double rostering of players and/or coaches. Then the confirmed schedule is posted on the website as soon as the visiting club accepts it. When MCSC is the visiting team we work to resolve any conflicts as soon as we receive the schedule from the home club. Not all clubs are able to confirm schedules until the week of games. It is MCSC’s intent to post schedules as early as possible with as few revisions as necessary. But MCSC is dependent upon the other clubs in order to have games. MCSC can independently write a schedule but if the visiting club is not able to meet that schedule then games would not be played. In an attempt to provide as many playing opportunities for MCSC players MCSC must be flexible with schedules. Therefore, schedules are posted as soon as possible. MCSC appreciates everyone’s understanding and patience with the schedule process.
